1. Vishnu V─Бman Shirw─Бdkar, popularly known by his pen name,┬аKusum─Бgraj, is one of the most eminent Marathi poets, playwriters, novelists, and short story writers. He has worked on humanitarian subjects like justice, freedom, the liberation of the underprivileged.┬а┬аOver five decades of a dedicated career, his work showcases numerous poems, novels, short stories, and essays; Vishakha┬а(1942) and┬аNatsamrat are his most famous works.┬аHe has received national awards and various other awards for his work. As an honor of his contribution to Marathi literature, his birthday on February 27 is celebrated as ‘ Marathi Bhasha Din.’

2. Vinda Karandikar, better known as┬аVinda, is a poet, writer, literary critic, and translator. Additionally, he has contributed to Marathi literature as an essayist too. He translated┬аPoetics of Aristotle┬аand┬аKing Lear┬аof┬аShakespeare┬аin Marathi. Some of his best works include┬аSparshaachi Palvi┬а(1958) and┬аAkashacha Arth┬а(1965). 3. Durga Narayan Bhagwat is a scholar, socialist, and writer. She also studied Sanskrit and Buddhist literature and worked as a researcher. She is known for being the foremost female writer in Marathi. Some of her noteworthy works include a biography of Rajaram Shastri Bhagwat,┬аVyas Parva, Rutuchakra, and Pais. She has also written many articles on cooking and crafts and was known as the тАШMarathi Saraswatachi SaraswatiтАЩ.┬а

4. Shivaji Sawant┬аis a Marathi novelist. Popularly known as Mrutyunjaykaar (after his popular book Mrutyunjay),┬аShivaji Sawant is┬аthe first-ever Marathi writer that was awarded the┬аMoortidevi Award┬аin 1994. His book┬аMrutyunjay,┬аbased on one of the leading characters of the┬аMahabharata- Karna, received numerous awards and accolades. This book was later translated into┬аHindi, English,┬а┬аKannada,┬аGujarati, and┬а┬аMalayalam. Another famous novel of his was┬аChhava, based on the life of┬аChhatrapati Sambhaji.

Manik Godghate, who is also popularly known by his pen name, Grace is a famous lyricist of the Marathi song “Bhaya Ithale Sampat Nahi,” sung by┬аLata Mangeshkar┬аas the title track for the TV serial┬аMahashweta.
