Dr. Hemant K. Abhyankar

H. K. Abhyankar has had a long career heading leading institutes of engineering education. Having first learnt to play bridge when he was still in school, he has played the game at a competitive level at college, local, state and national levels. Prof. Abhyankar is well-known in the bridge-playing community for his innovations, including the introduction of a new bidding system. A large number of engineering students have learnt bridge under his guidance, and he continues to guide bridge enthusiasts and players out of his sheer passion for the game.
