An anthology of thirty five short stories, this book is appealing for its variety of genres from contemporary urban, to historical, to fantasy and even thrillers. The variety is unpredictable and so it’s satisfying for the reader who is offered a smorgasbord of experiences. The narrative style is simple with rich imagery which invites the reader to explore the stories one at a time or all in one go depending on their mood. There is ‘Paromita’- a story from erstwhile Bengal jostling for attention alongside ‘Lyrical no more’ a thriller. Quite a few stories have magical realism and a sprinkling of science fiction too. The protagonists pan all ages and genders. Such is the plot of each story that one can not predict what the story will reveal in the end. The characters, setting, and the resolution of the conflict enriches the reader’s experience as they go from one story to the another.
