This book on the revolutionary poetess, Fahmida Riaz (1946 – 2018) is the first of its kind: covering various aspects of the poetess’s life, her missions and, of course, poetry. Powerful and truly representative Nazms of Riaz find a prominent space in the book. Translation of poetry across two very different cultures is a daunting task. Subodh Lal has taken on the challenge with great success – making the book a befitting tribute to an internationally respected poetess. This book on the revolutionary poetess, Fahmida Riaz (1946 – 2018) is the first of its kind: covering various aspects of the poetess’s life, her missions and, of course, poetry. Author-
Subodh Lal is a well-recognised name in literary circles, media, and social activism. His range of pursuit –professional and creative – is astounding: professor of English as well as media, senior Civil Servant, top executive in media organisations, and the first Urdu poet to translate his own poetry. What is remarkable is that he also had the courage to quit jobs to take on new challenges in the fields of writing, poetry, theatre, television. A book of his is now being converted into a feature film.
